Six Sigma Black Belt training develops leaders within the organization. Black belts are the hands on change agents to smooth the basic process. Black belts are specialized in the use of Six Sigma processes and tools. They are also highly skilled in managing change. They have a working knowledge of the DMAIC methodology. Some of the things that can sabotage a successful black belt training project occurs when your six sigma black belt training does not teach black belts how to cope with not getting support from their champion or sponsor, there are not enough or no green belts in your program, your mentor or master black belt is too busy to mentor, there is very little interaction with other six sigma personnel, or senior management hands out projects with the outcome already decided. It is important to have the same mindset from top to bottom of the organization or failure of the project occur.
